Church through Prophesy

It’s a subject that has mystified theologians and Christians for centuries... does God still speak to those who are His as He did in Biblical times?  At Light and Life we believe without reservation that He does and over the last weekend in May those who attended special meetings held with Minister Julian Adams heard for themselves God prophetic word and witnessed first hand the wonderful impact this had on the lives of both individuals and the church as a whole.

Julian currently ministers with the New Frontiers family of churches based in the North of England having received God’s prophetic word to come to England after 15 years serving with the Bay Community Church in Cape Town, South Africa.  He ministered at seminars held on Saturday 30^th at Mounts Bay School, Penzance in the morning and then again in the evening in Truro. After a very early start being interviewed by Radio Cornwall’s Naomi Kennedy on Sunday 31^st Julian preached and later ministered at Truro Light and Life at Richard Landers School giving an inspired and inspirational interpretation on the story of the prodigal son, and returned there again in the evening to minister to a hall bulging with more than 180 people.

In the gentle and humble manner that endeared him to so many over his visit Julian prophesied as God led him. In many instances he told individuals the ponderings of their own hearts and the wonderful plans God had for them. His prophesies were precise as he told them the amazing way that the God of the Universe saw them and loved them.  In true 1 Corinthians 14 spirit his prophesies encouraged and built up those receiving them.  It was simply awesome how accurate God’s word was. Those attending  left knowing God’s irrefutable love for them and His purposes on their lives.

For some it was the wonderful, tangible presence of the Holy Spirit that touched hearts and lives, reaching those deep places in their hearts, touching them where they were – for others it was God’s healing, tangible touch that impacted them.  One lady was miraculously cured from a film that had grown covering her eye and disabling her sight. After hearing Julian describe her condition – exactly - as God had revealed to him, she had been prayed for and was able to see without problem.  In another case a lady with a frozen shoulder was healed and able to lift both arms over her head for the first time in 3 months. Many healings took place.  As God showed Julian the pain or illness, so people either came forward to be prayed for or were prayed for by those close to them.  For many it was not just the wonderful physical manifestation of healing that brought them amazing joy but also that with it came a personal encounter with Jesus.

As Julian himself would say, the wonderful gift of hearing God’s word is not given exclusively to ministers or specially anointed individuals, but to all the church. It is the position of son-ship available to all believers. The communication between a father and his children, always shared in love and given to comfort, build-up and encourage.

Does God still speak to His Church?  You bet He does!  Over this weekend the Light and Life Churches witnessed for themselves God’s prophetic touch and were greatly blessed. The fruit of changed lives, hearts and bodies living proof of a God who still works by his Holy Spirit to bring the fullness of His Kingdom, through His son Jesus, into our lives.

 1 Corinthians 14 v 3: … the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 

Matthew 7 v 9 - 11     Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
