Light and Life is a family of Churches in based Helston, Penzance and Truro. Like any healthy family we do a lot of stuff together. Here you will find a number of our ‘Light and Life Together’ ministries and events.

Esther Days

“For such a time as this.”

The heart behind Light and Life ‘Esther Days’, which take place 3 times a year, is to unite women of all ages, backgrounds and experiences, for worship, friendship, encouragement and equipping in a loving, honest environment.

We aspire to encourage a deeper and more intimate relationship with Father God through praise, teaching, discussion and prayer so as to understand more fully who ‘I am’ in Christ and to be prepared, enabled and released into the gifts God has given His precious daughters.

Men of Valour

In a society where men lack moral fibre and spiritual backbone Light and Life is committed to going against the grain by being a family of Churches full of men who are tender warriors!

All of the men in Light and Life are encouraged to meet together a number of times a year for teaching, worship and social times and events – a space for men to be men.

Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Cor 16:13

Gospel Choir

Light & Life Gospel Choir came into existence in 2004 when the lives of two gifted musicians, Richard Penrose and Natalie Barber, were impacted and inspired by God to use their talents for Him.

They sing a mixture of traditional and modern gospel songs, several unique to the choir. They have a passion to share with people, through music and song, our love for Jesus and how he has changed our lives. Their heart is to go into the community, taking the good news of the gospel message to all.

Annual Celebration

Once a year, all of Light and Life meet together to celebrate the great things God has done during the previous twelve months. It is a time of great joy, particularly as people who have given their lives to Christ share testimony to God’s transforming power in their lives.

Each pastor reports about the area which he oversees, giving God glory for the fruit. Lead Pastor John Townley shares the vision for the next year, which the membership endorses. Oh, and of course there is food, fun and fellowship for good measure! It is a must for everyone connected with Light and Life.

Monthly Specials

As a part of the vision of three interconnected worship centers of 1000+ we meet together as a wider family on the first Sunday evening of each month.

We currently meet in St Michaels School Helston at 6pm on the first Sunday in the month.

Bible School

Did Adam have a belly button? What on earth is the Trinity? How can I understand the book of Revelation?

The Bible school explores questions like these. It does not require qualifications or previous study but simply a desire to learn. The aim of the course is to know God’s Truth well enough to share God’s Truth. The course runs for two hours per week in term time and lasts one year. It consists of the following five modules;

• Bible Overview – from Genesis to Revelation. How the pieces of the jigsaw fit together
• Bible Reading – How to get the most out of reading the Bible
• Bible Truths I + II – What is God like and how has He revealed Himself? What is mankind like and how can we be saved?
• Bible Believers – What has the church been up to for the last 2000yrs?

The course costs £30 per module (concessions available). You can do as many modules as you like. The course is led by Pastor Andrew Ollerton who has a Theology degree and serves on the Light and Life team, based in Penzance.

Wellspring is a fresh and exciting Bible Festival facilitated by Light and Life for the Free Methodist Church UK and beyond. Based at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge, the event runs from 3-7 August 2009.
